LA SALLE, Ill. — Viakable, a XIGNUX company, will invest $55 million to expand its La Salle cable plant, creating 50 new full-time jobs and retaining 65 existing full-time positions.

The project includes a 22,000-square-foot addition, 17 advanced machines and a new electrical substation, increasing capacity in wire drawing, cabling, extrusion and packaging. Viakable makes cable for electricity generation, transmission and distribution and has operated in La Salle since 2018. The company committed to the job targets in exchange for support from the state's Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credit program, administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Gov. JB Pritzker announced the expansion Oct. 7 and tied it to his spring 2025 trade mission to Mexico.
