DECATUR, Ala. — Nucor Corp. will invest $60 million to expand its Nucor Towers & Structures facility in Morgan County, adding 60 jobs to increase production of steel utility poles, Gov. Kay Ivey announced Oct. 20.
The project adds production capacity, laydown space and a dedicated galvanizing inspection area. Nucor's own release places the plant in Trinity, next to its Decatur sheet mill, and says the new jobs will pay average annual wages above $87,000. The company says the investment is "subject to regulatory and other approvals." Nucor considered other states for the expansion and is eligible for Alabama Jobs Act credits and Alabama Industrial Development Training assistance. The Towers & Structures plant, which makes steel structures for electric transmission, was announced in 2023.
