LAND O' LAKES, Fla. — Moffitt Cancer Center has opened its 250,000-square-foot Discovery and Innovation Center at Speros, its 775-acre life sciences campus in Pasco County, the cancer center announced Oct. 22. By the end of the year, the building is expected to house 20 faculty labs, 12 shared resources and approximately 250 faculty, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and support staff.
The center will focus on cell therapies and radiopharmaceuticals and includes radiochemistry lab space for Moffitt's Radiopharmaceutical Program. Shelled space on the third floor is reserved for FORGE, an incubator for early-stage biotech companies that Moffitt is planning with Speros and Embarc Collective and expects to open in early 2028. Moffitt did not disclose the building's cost, and the release does not say how many of the roughly 250 staff are new hires. Speros President Josh Carpenter said industry will drive the campus's next phase.
