BATESVILLE, Ind. — Med-Mizer will invest $9 million to increase production at its existing 40,000-square-foot facility in Batesville, creating up to 73 new jobs in the coming years.
The veteran-founded company makes hospital beds and safe patient handling products and also works as a defense contractor. The money will buy new machinery and equipment and retrofit the plant at 80 Commerce Dr. for growth and a second shift. The expansion supports a five-year, sole-source U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contract, delivered through partner DiSorb Systems, for at-home hospital beds and support surfaces. The company expects to more than double its workforce, and hiring is underway. New positions are expected to average 134% of the Ripley County average wage. The announcement does not mention state incentives. Gov. Mike Braun announced the project Oct. 13.
