JOLIET, Ill. — Hyundai Translead is expanding its planned investment in Will County to $600 million and a total of 3,750 new full-time jobs, Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced Oct. 22. When the trailer maker first announced its Illinois plans in March, the state put the project at $450 million and nearly 2,500 new full-time jobs.

The company has decided to add a third shift to meet growing demand. Its two Will County plants will go on the former sites of Caterpillar's heavy equipment operations and Lion Electric's electric bus operations. Hyundai Translead is part of the state's EDGE tax credit program as part of a broader incentive package, and the release does not give dollar amounts. The state is also investing in a new Manufacturing Training Academy at Joliet Junior College.
