WASHINGTON CITY, Utah — Baxter Aerospace Inc. plans to invest $19,550,000 to lease and equip a manufacturing facility in Washington City, adding 90 new jobs over the next five years.
The Southern Utah aerospace and advanced manufacturing company says the expansion will add about 30,000 square feet and that it is finalizing a location. The Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity is backing the project with a post-performance tax credit under its Rural Economic Development Tax Increment Financing program. The credit equals 30% of the new state tax revenue the project generates, which the state projects at $1,523,131 over five years, and the company earns it only by meeting targets such as job creation and investment. The state announced the agreement Oct. 8, and the company followed with its own release Oct. 13.
