TRENTON, S.C. — Amick Farms, a Batesburg-based poultry processor, will invest $54.78 million in a new hatchery in Edgefield County, creating 40 new jobs, the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced Oct. 28. The Trenton hatchery will be able to hatch more than 1.5 million eggs to support the company's South Carolina processing operations. Operations are expected to begin in April 2027.

Founded in 1941, Amick is a fully integrated company with hatcheries, feed mills and processing plants. It runs two complexes in Saluda County and one each in Laurel, Miss., and Hurlock, Md. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Edgefield County a $1 million Set-Aside grant for site preparation and building construction.
